This state-of-the-art tertiary care cardiac center with 250 beds is located in the heart of Rawalpindi, the twin city of the federal capital, Islamabad. AFIC-NIHD has the honor to be serving a large population of the upper Punjab, the federal capital and Khyber Pakhtunkhwah province, Azad Kashmir. and referred cases from the Armed Forces Hospitals of all over the country.
With presence of highly qualified specialists and progressive & active residency training programs in cardiology, cardiac surgery and cardiac anesthesia, AFIC-NIHD has gained the status of a model hospital in the country. With collaboration of the International Children Heart Foundation (ICHF) USA, the hospital took a giant leap in developing the expertise in surgical and intensive care management of complex congenital heart diseases in children. Initiating Pakistan’s first Heart Transplant program is another huge achievement. With the training of our doctors at University Hospital Birmingham, AFIC-NIHD is all prepped up for country’s first heart transplant.
Through its teaching mission, AFIC-NIHD helps to train not only physicians, but also nurses and a variety of other healthcare professionals in various disciplines, through continuous medical education (CME) and continuous professional development (CPD), in order to maintain the quality of care offered to the present generation and those to come.
