As one of the country’s finest hospitals, the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and National Institute of Heart Diseases (AFIC-NIHD) has a proud heritage of serving the country for more than 35 years. This state-of-the-art tertiary care cardiac center with 404 beds is located in the heart of Rawalpindi, the twin city of the federal capital, Islamabad. AFIC-NIHD has the honor to be serving a large population of the upper Punjab, the federal capital, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Azad Kashmir. and referred cases from the Armed Forces Hospitals all over the country.
With the presence of highly qualified specialists and progressive & active residency training programs in cardiology, cardiac surgery, and cardiac anesthesia, AFIC-NIHD has gained the status of a model hospital in the country.
AFIC-NIHD is the pioneer in the use of the Impella device during angioplasty, performing Transcatheter aortic valve implantation, and left atrial appendage occlusions, transcatheter aortic aneurysm repair. Another upcoming cutting edge technology is laser lead extraction. Through its teaching mission, AFIC-NIHD helps to train not only physicians, but also nurses and a variety of other healthcare professionals in various
