Hospital Management Information System

Each and every patient of AFIC is provided with excellent facilities and care. From the point of initial registration to the point of when the patient leaves with medication, every step along the way is completely automated and computerized. The IT department of AFIC makes this possible with the help of Health Management Information System (HMIS), which is deployed in complete hospital. In AFIC/NIHD all process from patient registration to patient discharge is fully automated.

Health Management Information System (HMIS) was approved by the Ministry of science and technology in July 2007. This project was successfully deployed in AFIC in January 2009. The IT department of AFIC was established in 2010 for the management and support of Network Infrastructure and HMIS.  To the present date the HMIS is always being updated and modified for improvement under the supervision of the IT department.

AFIC planned to enhance its Information Technology infrastructure according to international standards. In year 2010, servers and network are configured to provide 99.99% uptime for 24 hours and 7 days a week. In addition to this PACS technology is being used which provides the facility to view patients X-Ray, Echo and nuclear Cardiology images in all wards/department, OPD and consultant rooms.

Hospital Information system ( HMIS ) is one of the six building blocks essential for health system strengthening. HMIS is a data collection system specifically designed to support planning , management and decision making in health facilities and organizations.
Training materials were used to support implementation of the HMIS including data quality assurance and information use procedures, the electronic HMIS system for managing data processing, reporting, analysis which organizes information on individuals and families.
